If Yeze Could Fly
by Sally Kaye
3-3-16
We recently made a connection with Sally Kaye, an author from Camano Island! Sally recently published a book titled, If Yeze Could Fly. Sally will be visiting our classroom, Monday, 3-7-16!
To prepare for the upcoming visit, we read and/or listened to an article about Sally and her book. We developed questions, formulated predictions and made personal connections.
Please take a moment to read the article and our thoughtful responses.

Sally Kaye
Presentation
3-7-16
Sally Kaye, Author and Illustrator of the book titled, If Yeze Could Fly, came to our classroom today. She spoke to us about what she finds inspirational and about how she brought her book to life! Students were able to share their predictions about the book and ask her some questions.
She gave everyone a black and white copy of Yeze and students designed it using the colors that appealed to them. Ms. Kaye also read us part of her book. (We will be reading the whole book very soon. The book is available on Amazon.com as both an Ebook and hardcover.)
She told us that there will be two more books in the series and invited us to be a part of an amazing opportunity! She asked us to think about some possible plot ideas, characters and design colors that she could maybe incorporate into her next two books. Our creative brains are already buzzing with possibilities!
Our resident reporter, Rex H., took a very brave step and asked Ms. Kaye if he could conduct a formal interview with her. She agreed! This is both Ms. Kaye and Rex's first official interview and we think that they both did an excellent job.
